PholkTales: What is Phish?

So, after seeing my first Phish show in Denver 2003, and after listening to countless bootlegs, I was addicted. The live show blew away all my high expectations.

Anyway, I decided to drive to Chicago to see the next show, even though I did not have a ticket, and really had no idea where I was going. So I got to Chicago about 3pm the day of the show, and proceeded to drive around looking for the Allstate Arena. I also asked several natives if they knew where it was. This was stupid, because they all told me different ways to get there (which all turned out to be incorrect anyway.)

So it's now 6 pm and I'm getting nervous, thinking I may have made the drive for nothing, when I spot what appears to be dreadlocks in the car next to me. In Chicago's standstill traffic, I hollered "Do you have an extra ticket?" I received a smile in return with a polite "No, sorry". I then followed this car to the Allstate parking lot.

So I get to the lot, and I'm walking around, finger in the air, not feeling very good about my situation (about 100 other people were looking for tickets too.)

So the doors open and I'm standing there, fresh NLxHaze buds in pocket, when a guy comes up to me and asks me if I want his ticket. I had 80 dollars in my pocket to spend, but all he wanted was 50!!! So, I handed him the bucks, he handed me the ticket, and off I went. It was like walking into a still picture, seeing the band whistle "Guyute" as I made my way to my seat. It turns out I had bought a AA section seat - as close to the floor as one can get.

The groove ensued.
