i had heard some of their shit a few years ago and it was too weird for my closed-minded self then... but since then i've opened myself up a bit, and when i heard them again, it was the most beautiful music i'd ever heard and WILL ever hear.

in a friend of a friend's car, on the way home from a session, he popped in the white tape album (didn't know it at the time)... and for the first time i really sat down and listened... i mean REALLY listened... the song that i remember hearing most, which really REALLY stood out in my mind was Aftermath (genius work)... anyways... from that day on i was in love...

a few weeks later i picked up the first phish album i saw when i was on a vacation... and coincidentally, it was the white tape album. i didn't even know at the time that it was the same one. i didn't have a cd player with me on the trip (only minidisc), so i had to wait for like a week before i could listen to it... long week, but when it was finally over i popped it right in and chilled out in my bedroom and soaked in the sounds...

all of the sudden, i recognized that song i remembered best from that car ride, aftermath! i was pretty juiced to have found out that that song was on the random cd that i had bought...

from that day on i've bought phish cds as often as possible and loved every album just as much as the first one i ever got... they just mean so goddamn much to me, words can't even begin to describe the feeling i get when i listen to phish. I know i'm new and all to the scene, and have never even come close to being at a concert... i just can't wait until hiatus ends and i can hit up the first concert possible...god these 4 guys are great.

if i have this much love for them right now, i can't even imagine what it must be like for the original phans...

i can't believe i passed up chances for so much joy earlier in life, and i regret not finding out about phish earlier, but at least i found them when i did... the joy they give me now makes up for all the joy i missed before i had heard of them. peas to all.
