Big Cypress was my first Phish show, and one of the single most amazing experiences of my life. I went with my then boyfriend, and I'll be damned if in a crowd of 70,000 or more people, we didn't keep running into people we knew - even his ex-girlfriend... This obviously brought a somewhat bad vibe to the evening, but I was determined not to let it bring me down. 

But nonetheless, due to a mixture of exhaustion, jealously and immaturity, I felt like total crap. Suddenly, "You Enjoy Myself" started, and I have to say, it totally re-energized me. I can get off on that song just sitting in my living room and listening to a cd... but oh my god, it was like a religious experience to hear it live. Not only did I feel better, but the song totally sucked me into its groove, and I swear I reached some sort of nirvana before the whole thing was over. 

Don't get me wrong, the entire 3 days were incredible - probably the single most enjoyable concert and camping experiences of my life. But that song brought me into a mad groove, and the energy I internalized was better than any drug. Good enough to pull a natty ex-girlfriend out of my mind and infuse me with good thoughts and positive vibes in the face of a totally bad karma situation.
