My story takes place in Charlotte at the 7/25/03 show. Me and my four friends got inside the venue and remarked about how loose the security seemed. We chilled out up in the middle of the lawn to wait for the boys to come out. We were all happy to hear the pre-show music selection, which was Beck's Mutations, which we had just been listening to in the car.

We all start feelin' right just as the boys come on stage and start up Funky Bitch. I've always loved this song and it's a tight opener. We rock again in Chalkdust and then relax and sit during Two Versions of Me. Then I hear it, the first notes of Bathtub. This song got me into Phish and I've always loved it.

To celebrate I decide we must pack one. I light her up and after what seems like 3 seconds, I feel a tap on my shoulder. "Give me that and come with me." Two security guards are standing right behind me. I get up and they start to lead me off. One security guard looks at the piece and tells the other one that there is nothing in it. He tells me to take it and get out of there. As he is saying this the other, more anal security guard claims that it doesn't matter and to keep walking. At that same instance I looked down to see a young phan on a blanket. She just looked at me and said, "Just run man."

So with the bowl in hand, that's exactly what I did. I ran as fast as I could through a sea of people. I didn't stop until I heard someone screaming my name. I turned around to see some dudes I knew from home, groovin to Gin. My heart was slowed by a wave of relief as I looked back and saw no one. I joined up with the dudes I knew and chilled with them for the rest of the show.

Right after Bug I jetted back to the car and waited for my friends who all could not believe I wasn't in some security tent. So thanks to a little luck and a good idea from a phan, I was able to enjoy the show.
