PholkTales: Run-ins With the Law

This one is actually a good run-in with the Man..

It was summer '99 and we were in Indiana for the grand ol' event that is Deer Creek. There was a crew of us, 8 in total if I remember correctly. My girlfriend and I had traveled from MD to meet up with our crew in Cleveland to do some tourin'. One of our friends (Jessica)that was with us is one of the sweetest people and is the "main character" in this brief story.

During the DC run we stayed at a campground about 10 minutes from the venue...can't remember the name, but it wasn't the preferred camping experience to say the least. There was no shade anywhere, and the "swimming hole" looked like a pool at the local water treatment plant. And it was hot as hell! So hot that some of crawled out of our sauna tents at 9AM to go to the McDonald's only to sit in some AC. We hung there for a while then made our way across the street to the Subway, pretty much for the same reason...I think we actually got food there. We made our way to another local establishment...for ice cream I think. So we were escaping the heat in this place, and Jessica comes from the restrooms like, "Look what I found." Turns out someone had dropped a bag. Cool. Jess has some good luck. Later that day we scored when we found the local pool, which was reeeeaaaal nice!

That same night, once in the lot most of us had to find tix for the show. We must have walked around looking for 3 hrs before just about all of us had one. So Jessica was standing near the main gate with her finger up and a cop happened to be nearby (on horseback I think). He asked her if she had seen Phish before which she replied "yes." So then he hands her a miracle and says, "enjoy the show!" Couldn't have happened to a better person!
