PholkTales: Run-Ins With the Law
I've been following phish now for six years and have truly enjoyed watching the phab phour develop their sound and show...i can honestly say though, that there is nothing like seeing a phish show when you are so close you can see trey's fingering, mike just being mike, page staring at something, and mike talking with trey...not to mention the lights and the shiny music that descends from overhead...it really is a different experience...when you can get up there...

This past summer tour, my brother adam and i hit the shows starting in atlanta where i go to art school...the previous summer before i had toyed with notion that the jedi mind trick really did exist (I still think it does as you'll soon find out).

I thought to myself that at phish shows, about 60-70 of the people are probably not even in the seats that they got tixx for...so, i figured why not sit where i want...now, what i'm about to tell you, i don't promote or discourage...it's just something i tried...and it worked...

Anyway, being in art school, i have developed myself in good craft skills and techniques...so, the atlanta shows last year (not this past tour), i decided that i would doctor my tix so i would be sitting in sect. 102 row dd rather than lawn...i carefully, and i mean carefully, cut out the information i wanted to replace and inserted the new info (from old stubs that were still white)...

This is possible because the tixx are printed on a 2-ply stock (stock means paper)...by slicing the top layer off and inserting the new info...i was chillin in 102 instead of on the lawn

I was pretty nervous to try it, but i figured why not...my doctoring job was kind of shoddy (I mean, i could tell it was doctored), but i figured the jedi mind trick wouldn't hurt to use...so, when i went up to the usher for the seated sections, i merely held the ticket with parts of the shoddy areas covered with my thumb and i told him confidently where my seat was..."Section 102...is that down there left side or right side (pointing to distract him)?"...

He just glanced at the tix and said , "yeah, its down there" and let me go...i was pretty excited because i had room to dance and chill and the ticket worked numerous times that night...the key, i think was being confident in telling the usher where my place was...space is space and people move about...people should enjoy the show from where they want...everyone should be able to see phish front row at sometime or another...

..anyway, this past tour, i did the same thing for the atlanta shows, hartford shows, and the 3rd and 4th...all with success...it takes time, you need good stubs with the right new info...but sometimes its worth it...i had an awesome tour with my bro before he went off to med school in chicago...and it was a tour to remember...

...may the force be with you
