PholkTales: Run-Ins With the Law
After the 12/02/99 show, my friends and I piled into the my car and headed home after a long day and drive.

The Detroit show was the only one I was going to hit until Rochester and NYE in Florida.

I've seen the Dead and Phish at the Palace since the GD started going there in 1992, and my parents live about 2.5 hours away in Canada so you'd think I'd know my way around. But somehow we got lost after exiting I-75 by mistake. So we end up driving around this posh neighborhood with multi-million dollar homes, and I'm driving my 88 Grand AM complete with rust, a broken tail light, headlight, Phish and GD stickers all over it too.

A police officer pulls me over after I was going like 60MPH in a 30 zone.  He asks me to step out of the car once he sees all the beer bottles on the floor, and my car smells like the herb too.

Just before I got pulled over, I shoved my half ounce bag of dank in my pants along with my glass piece.

He gives a breath test... I actually passed, and then he asked me where I was. I even told him the P word....a Phish concert.

The guy was actually very nice and didn't give me any fines or hassles... and he gave me directions to the interstate.

Just as I was turning around, my bag and bowl fell out of my pants and down to my ankle. The glass piece just nicks the road, and I bend over and pretend I sprained my ankle. The cop asked me if I was ok and I said yes... grabbed my stuff from the bottom of my pant leg and left the scene with no problem.

Keep in mind that I'm a Canadian citizen who lives near Toronto...we here watch COPS on FOX and get the shit scared out of us.
