PholkTales: Run-Ins With the Law

It was June 29, 2000 in Holmdel, NJ.  Me and my buddy "Thundercloud" were chilling by our car in the lots after having devoured some excellent goo balls. The show was starting relatively soon, and suddenly a Buddhist monk approached us and explained to us his philosophy on reincarnation and karma.

Feeling rather generous, me and my friend decided to pitch in $5 each to help his cause, and we were quickly told that we would be receiving some good karma due to our kindness. Who knew that it would come later on that night? Some time during the second set, me and Thundercloud decided to smoke.  As we were puffing up, a pissed off security guard came up to us, looking angry as hell.

Before we knew what was happening, some random dude behind us started talking to the security and telling him that "we were just having fun" and "we weren't hurting anybody," and the security guard let us off! That great experience coupled with that epic second set (even though the Drowned -> Rock and Roll from the first set takes the crown for best jam) made for an unforgettable night.

Needless to say, almost getting busted was a frightening experience, but I guess the power of karma overrides the power of law enforcement!
