PholkTales: Random Acts of Kindness
I want to share my story of the kindness I received during a time of need at my very second Phish show. It was December of 1994 and I had gone to the show at the Philadelphia Civic Center with my boyfriend and some of our friends. We hung out in the lot drinking beer for a while and then we finally made it in to the show.

The Civic Center is set up so that you can go wherever you want, so we decided to go to the floor and dance. On the floor we met a guy with a huge joint and he passed it around to all of us. Twenty minutes later I was so messed up that I lost my friends and I could barely walk. I thought I was just smoking pot, but it turned out to be something else. To this day I still don't know what it was.

I made it up to to bleachers where I tried to calm myself down; meanwhile, all I can see are huge orange trails of Mike's Adidas shirt as he runs around stage. The music was going in and out of my ears and I could barely see. I made it to the bathroom and collapsed on the floor. I wet some paper towels and put them on my face, trying to get my body temperature down. At this point, I'm still hallucinating and am spinning in what seemed like a dark hole.

A female security guard came into the bathroom and asked me if I was alright. I said yes and that I just needed to rest, but I was still lying on the floor. A little while later a male security guard came in a told me that he was taking me to the paramedics. I told him that I was fine, but he still insisted. Not two seconds later a girl came flying out of a stall, called me by some name (I can't remember what), and grabbed my hand, trying to make me stand up.

She told the guard that I was her friend who she had been looking all over for and that she would take care of me. With that she took me out of the bathroom, sat me down in the hallway, and bought me a bottle of water. She stayed with me until I felt better and then left to find her friends.

I will never forget what this girl did, saving me from trouble in an unknown city. If you ever read this, thanks for being kind and saving a trashed 16 year old girl who was new to the Phish phamily and needed to be taught!!!!!!!!!
