A little intimidated, I told him to limestone, to a music festival. Without missing a beat he asks, "ain't none o that rap sheyit...cuz ah done like that sheyit." I laughed because now I saw he was Ok, no man it's like rock and roll, with some jazz influence and a lot of improvised jamming....like the Dead, kind of. (i know I know)  So now he warmed up, told us about how much he liked the Dead... and Lynyrd Skynyrd and Alabama. He was from Arkansas.

Ok, the point you might ask...

We talked on for a while. I asked If I might bum a cigarette. He gave me one and noticed I was sharing it with my girl. So then he was like, "Whyonchoo come on over t'my truck fer a sec." Intrigued, I went. There he gave me 4 packs of cigarettes, a three pack of lighters, and a pack of spearmint gum. I gave him the joint I had just rolled for the ride.

I guess I'm trying to say that we can never tell who is who in this world. The most unlikely soul might turn out to be your lifesaver, or your best friend, or your new connection, or the stranger with a miraculous ticket burning a hole in his pocket. And the miracle can only happen when we're both ready and willing to accept the mystery with the miracle.

By the way, they were Camel Menthols! but Spearmint is my favorite!
