PholkTales: Random Acts of Kindness
Ok, this isn't a phish story per se. It is, however, a TAB story. I went to great woods on 8/4 with my best friend, her little sister, and her little sister's friend. We traveled all through the night from buffalo, ny in my friend cassie's brand new 2001 hyundai Accent that only had 5000 miles on it.

We were living it up, having a great time, saw a rocking show (the first trey/phish experience for the 3 i traveled with). Soon it was time to be on our way to SPAC. We get in the brand new car, and suddenly the engine light is on. No prob, we think, it's a brand new car. Well soon enough, the car will not accelerate above 20mph. We pull over at a gas station, trying to figure out what to do. We are all alone in the middle of Mass. with no money and a busted car.

While sitting almost in panic mode, a yukon type of SUV pulls up right next to us. 5 boys exit and go into the Mobil. They come back and ask us what the prob seems to be, and we relate our sitch. to them. They look at each other and say, "well, we have a cabin about a 1/2 hour away... you are all welcome to stay with us."

Now, if it had just been my friend and i, we would have gladly gone, but we had to think of the 2 16-year-olds we had. These guys proceed to stay with us at the gas station for like an hour until a tow truck comes. They repeatedly offer the cabin to us until finally we agree because we have no where else to go. We get to this cabin, and it was like we became family. Everything they had was ours, from beer, to clothes, to food.

Now the thing with this story is that it was not just like this for one night... it was like this for multiple nights until our car was fixed. Never ever in my life have i met more kind people. They gave up their beds to accommodate us, calmed our nerves and just generally made us feel welcome.

So Kim, Mike, Andrew, Jordan, and Ryan from Maryland, the buffalo girls love you and i told you i would make it known just what great people you are. Over and over and over again i thank you!!! You were our saviors from what would have surely been a disaster since we had no money, no food, and nowhere to stay. It was just as you said, mike, "this is what phish is all about... helping others out."
