Our seats were just to the right of the taper section, so my position was still good. But our seats were, like the taper section, near the edge of the pavilion roof.  And God knows no taper wants his/her stuff all soaked and smokin'.  Just as I noticed our position, (and pholks who attended this first night will remember) this huge, dark cloud rolled in like an ocean wave, and all that my brother and friends did was run like hell straight forward!!

We ended up running right into a row of seats that divided the front and back halves of the pavillion! The aisle to nowhere! But we got under cover just in time to catch the band walking on stage, and I set to taping.  After the 'Sample' opener, the show was shut down for 20 minutes while the rain poured and blew all over the place.

While we waited, DRY!, we all got to talking to this young Security guy who looked to be in his 20's (our age). It turns out he was a junior-level Phishhead, and he ended up being the only guard in the entire half of the pavilion...  the other guards left when us fans pressed forward. We fended off the feds!!

Our own "private security guy," complete in yellow rain jacket, ended up guarding the area around my friends and me. He kept people from shoving us and told loud pholks to be quieter. He said he wanted me to get a good recording. He thought it was cool!  And you know what would have happened if some old, fat, bacon-sniffin' guard had been there instead!

It isn't the most thrilling tale, but it's true, memorable, and best of all -- I have the show recording to prove it happened (I got to record him saying hello during the intermission!).
