Eventually, we got to talking and all he could seem to talk about was Phish. Finally I decided I had to hear it. He loaned me a cd, and the first time i listened to it, i HATED it. He used to sing the songs to me while I tried to do my homework, and it made me hate Phish even more. Eventually the two of us became really good friends. I admired him for being able to love something so much... that he had something that changed his life, something that meant something to him. 

I started listening to Phish more and more with him. That's all he would listen to. After a while, I actually started to like some of their stuff and we started to like each other.  I started reading the lyrics to phish songs and none of it made sense to me, but it felt so right. All he wanted was for me to "get" phish too. He wanted me to be able to feel the same way he did about them. 

Phish brought us together, whether he knows it or not, and I know phish is going to help us both out of it too. I look back and smile, just picturing his face light up whenever he listened to them or talked about them. Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different if I had "gotten" Phish too.
