PholkTales: Phishy Coincidences

Ok. My friend, who plays bass, and I were at the Clifford Ball. At that time, I was somewhat into filmmaking and took along my old Super 8 movie camera (used for home movies 60/70/80's). I took about a half hour worth of film as it costs about $15 for 3 minutes!

I took shots of the parking lot scene, the stunt planes in the sky, people doing stuff, etc etc...So I'm filming the parking/camping area and I have my camera situated on some people, mainly this one guy. I wasn't doing this for any particular reason, just getting some shots. There was only one person in the foreground really, this guy, who was just standing there, looking around....possibly trying to find people.

I had my camera on him for at least 15 seconds. Strange? Not yet. Fast-foward to January 1997. My aforementioned friend and I were looking for some guys to start a band with here in CT. So we answered this ad that these other 2 guys set up, Steve and Adrian. Things went very well and we put a great band together doing cool covers (a lot that Phish does), some Phish songs, and some originals in the rock/funk/jazz style.

After becoming friends with these guys, I knew they would be interested in seeing my Clifford Ball footage as they were Phish fans too. Well, to our amazement, as we were watching it....Adrian piped up and said, "That's me!" He was the guy I had my camera trained on for at least 15 seconds! There we were at the Clifford Ball, 10's of thousands of people....what were the chances?

To be in the same place at the same time, and not only that, but have my camera on him, directly! And then months later I form a band with the same guy??? Our band lasted for about 2 years and was great. I'm still good friends with Steve and Adrian. So that's my Phishy coincidence.
