PholkTales: Phishy Coincidences
Alright, I've kind of called songs before (we all look at the setlist the night before to "predict" what we might see), and sometimes I don't. During the 2nd set of 6-23 Atlanta) summer 2000), in the middle of the Disease jam, me and my fiancé were looking at everything and were like, "wow, can't get better than this."

The band was really breakin the chords down to nothing and I started to feel this groove coming on... the crowd was absolutely silent, still, that really calm and placid feeling that sweeps over everyone during long jams or songs... it's like when everyone is either waiting or just getting totally spaced into the band (we ALL know this time during shows).

I looked to my lady and said "man, they could go into TWIST right now," and I started humming the intro chords to myself in time with Jon's drumbeat, and then, sure enough, trey did the jedi-mind-s*^t-super-telepathic-reach-out-and-touch- you-where-it-will-make-you-laugh-till-you-hurt trick he's really good at and started strumming the chords for Twist along with my humming. I jumped around, freaked out, grabbed her and she started jumping around, she thought I was crazy, but I knew better. I kept it to myself cuz I knew sooner or later it would happen again. Hope it's sooner and not later...

Editor's Note: Predicting the flow of a jam is an acquired skill, possibly one of my favorite in existence.  Predicting a song out of nothing, though, can be just plain nuts.
