PholkTales: Phishy Coincidences
Early on in my Phishing days, I saw 2 shows at Sugarbush, Vermont in the summer of 1995. At the first show, a few thousand people walked in through the woods and ran down the ski slope en masse, jumping the snow fence and overwhelming the meager security force. I went to that show alone and remember Trey saying to "all the people who were wandering through the woods and just happened to find themselves there, to go over to the table for the King Street Youth Center and make a donation."

I had such a great time at the show that I brought my girlfriend and my 2 kids the next night. Before the end of the first set, my son (9 years old at the time) said he was bored and asked to walk up the hill to see the view. I said sure, be back in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, he was not back so I went looking for him. I wandered up the hill and his dreadlocked head was nowhere to be seen.

At this point I was becoming a little concerned, so I asked a security guard if he could help. The guard pointed me up the hill towards his supervisor who had a walki-talki. As I approached the supervisor, I noticed that he had a young couple in custody, apparently for jumping the fence. They looked at me with forlorn eyes as I spoke to the supervisor. The supervisor was not keen to help me, saying he was busy with "these two"... At this point I pulled a little age on him and scolded him for caring more about gatecrashers than a lost 9 year old, and he reluctantly looked at his walki-talki and started asking me questions about my son.

While he was talking to me, he turned his back on the couple. The woman looked at me and I nodded and indicated down the hill as the supervisor started broadcasting my son's description to the other walki-talkis. When I nodded, the couple got up and sprinted down the hill towards the crowd. The supervisor turned towards them and yelled, and I yelled at him to finish the message. He did and the couple got away. I returned to the crowd and found my son sitting with his sister and my girlfriend. He wondered why I had been gone so long. The rest of the show was a treat!
