It was the summer of '98 and me and a few friends, including webmaster J.K., headed down to the show in Maryland. The show started off on an embarrassing note; we had been driven there by someone's parents and were laughed at in the lot. As we exited the car someone standing nearby said, "Getting dropped off by the parents," and the whole group around him started to chuckle. Anyway, that wasn't going to ruin a perfectly good phish concert; only a drunken crazy dancer could do that. 

Once we found our seats on the lawn and the show began, we began to notice that the couple in front of us were both very drunk, and appeared to become more intoxicated with each song. In the middle of a very spaced out jam I was staring at Page as he was making that waaaaaa sound with the keys and the drunken fool started to yell something at me. 

I myself was wrecked and his words sounded like they were traveling at negative 2mph. As he got in my face and kept yelling in slow motion he turned to his girlfriend and she started laughing and looking at me also. Not the greatest thing in the world, to be very stoned and have random people laughing at you. 

My sleepy cranium finally deciphered what this idiot was saying; he was yelling at me because I wasn't smiling. I told him that I was just getting into the spaced out jam that phish was laying down, but he continued to yell at me to smile. This is something that can become very irritating after a few minutes. Luckily he deterred his attention from me long enough to attempt to dance and then collapse and pass out. Then I was finally able to enjoy the show.
