I have so many memories stemming from Phish, and I can't exactly sort through them all, but I'll just give one. It was summer, 99. We were camping at Massasolit State Park in Mass for Great Woods. Well, just a word of advice, their no alcohol rule holds. 

Upon returning from the show the first night, we had our car searched, only for alcohol. There was a cop there and they did a pertty through search. So if you plan on staying there in the future, don't plan on drinking anything unless you want it taken away from you before you get a chance to do so.

Anyway, otherwise they were somewhat lenient. We were all hanging out after the show, smoking bowls and talking. There were a lot of campsites nearby, and eventually, we have a bunch of randoms just chillin. The funniest character I've ever met sauntered over to us, and started packing. (We probably had 10 people there and about 5 bowls, so we were all just stoned.) So this guy, from Florida or something, just starts talking.

First he started talking about the Dead, and how he just went at first cause he could "take LSD and listen to music". He was older, like in his late 40's probably. So he's telling us about his friends he's with now, and how they're all weird and he's not sure they're cool. So we ask why. And he gets ALL serious, and starts to tell us this story about how before tour started, they were hanging out, and he had some crack. (We all just started laughing at him at this point in time, since he just came right out like it was cool to have crack.) 

So he's saying how he and his friends smoked crack, and then they had to go somewhere. So his one friend was driving, and they were in a 75 MPH zone, and he got all weirded out 'cause the driver was only going 40. He made this big issue about how they couldn't party and how it was "weird" that "They ain't never smoked crack before".

This guy was quite hysterical, though I doubt he even realized it. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a guy who thought he was impressing a bunch of people. and while I realize there really is nothing funny about smoking crack, you had to see this guy and hear him to understand. When he asked us if we wanted to smoke some with him, he got a resounding "NO thanks man", and he stumbled on his way back to his campsite, probably to do just that. He probably thought WE were weird too, caus ewe didn't want to join him, but oh well. He gave us a good laugh.
