PholkTales: Odd Phans
Personally, I think everybody's got one of these kinds of people in their lives: the kinds of people that, despite the pure randomness in their meeting and knowing each other, they always seem to find the other one. Some people don't want to think they know one of these people, but perhaps some just haven't gotten that bond with the unknown yet.

Mine is named Josh. I met him in Canada, at a show. I was walking one way, with my entourage of wackily-dressed folk (we always dress up crazy for shows, give out gifts, blow bubbles and scream) when I just walked up to him. I didn't tell him my name, I didn't even say Hi. I said, "You want to walk with me." he said Yes. We were inseparable for the two hours before the show, during the show, then afterward, till we had to go our separate ways. I stupidly passed up a handfull of tickets to go with him. ::sigh::

He told me he wouldn't be attending the fall shows at all; that his tour ended in August.

September comes, the boys are in my neck of the woods (Mansfield, MA). I go to the show, walk around, get separated from my wacky group of techno-colored heads, and can't find them. While looking around, it had to be ten minutes...

"Hey! Remember me from Toronto?"

I screamed, I screamed loudly. I ran. I hugged, I hugged hard, I squeezed, I was HAP-PY. "JOOOOSH!!"

We were inseparable for the rest of the show, into the post- show lot where I lost my friend's car. He stuck like glue, 'til it was time to go--but alas, a show the next day!

My pals get to the lot early, I walk around...looking... looking more...for hours...I looked...I was saddened... maybe I wouldn't get to see Josh--I mean, it IS a big show! I walk to my friends and hang out with them, and upon going into the venue I make one last search. I walk around the corner, his car parks. I walked right to where he was parking, to the spot on the very moment he got out.

Inseparable.

But in all actuality, we weren't inseparable--he went on tourin', I went on livn' in Boston, doing the waitressy-school thing.

But then that bug got in my head, "THAT CAN'T BE MY LAST PHISH SHOW FOR OVER A YEAR!!!!! It just cant!!"

****************

Okay, sure, I haven't seen my parents in a year and a half. But there was NO coincidence about my very sudden decision to take a week off and "visit the parents" in southern California, none at all. Yea, yea, PHISH just happened to be in town that week, and my friends just happened to also make the soujourn to see my...parents...yea.

*******************

After an eventful day of dealing with the border officials and nearly getting arrested, we run to Chula Vista and get into happy phish land again. (Might I add, that was an AMAIZING show, great venue, and you southern californians have a great scene).

You know it wouldn't take me more than five minutes to pinpoint Josh in that crowd, not even in California. I'd been there for a while, but he again told me that he had just stepped out of the car.

I found him after the show...the next day before and after the shows, also. He yet again invited me along to finish up the tour, I yet again said no.

::sigh::

So now I can't remember what band he said he MIGHT be touring with...I guess I just have to keep my power's on high alert...is he in California? Pensylvania?

Don't all of you have these kinds of people?...Kurt Vonnegut (via Bokonon) would say that he's just part of my Karass or something. Who's in your karass?

oh yea! If any of you know a dready boy named Josh, oooh ooh tell me! I mean, thissa one...you'll know who he is-- just feel the vibes.
