PholkTales: Near Catastrophes
It was July 25th 1999 (CK's B-day), and the boys were playing in my home state of Indiana at Deer Creek. This was the second to last show of the tour, but my first of that tour due to work and cash restrictions, so needless to say I was psyched. I arrived at the lots early to enjoy some pre-show activities with some of my buddies and my girlfriend.

Jump ahead a few hours to when us diehard phans with lawn seats are waiting in line for the doors to open so we could get primo seats on the lawn. It comes time to get our tickets out and my girlfriend realizes SHE FORGOT HER TICKET! I capitalize not to imply that she is dumb in any way, but to emphasize the terror one feels at that moment. My immediate thoughts were that I wasn't going to get to see the show.

This show of course was sold out and tix were hard to come by for most in the lots. So there I am freaking out when my friend says "Dude, go back to camp, get your car and haul ass home to get the ticket. We'll save you guys room on the lawn." So that's what we did. We ran to the Dead Creek campsite (I'd guess a little less than a mile) down the road, found our campsite, got in the car and hauled ass out of there.

We live about 25-30 minutes straight down the road from Deer Creek in a town called Anderson. We got home, found the missing tickets (one for the following night as well), and hauled ass back to the campsite, then ran the mile back down the road to deer creek. All in all, from the time we realized the ticket was missing till we got back to the gates to get in, it took us about an hour and a half. Needless to say, we found our friends, the boys opened with Meat>MFMF>My left toe>Whipping Post. The show turned out to be one of my favorites I've seen.

P.S. get the tapes and you'll know what I mean!!!
