PholkTales: Near Catastrophes
My tale takes place a few years ago at "Camp Oswego." i was still in high school at the time and was psyched to be spending the weekend camping, chilling, and seeing Phish (of course.) My friends and I arrived at the airforce base in my friend's ancient, run-down, blue chevy known as "Baby Blue." The thing was a piece of shit, but we loved it because we had plastered the entire back end with probably 100 bumper stickers.

The weekend was a blast until Saturday afternoon when we discovered that Baby Blue's back tire had been punctured, presumably by a rock, and was nearly flat. Rather than wait til Monday to take care of it, we - for god knows what reason - decided to drive it right away to the nearest gas station to seal the puncture while the car was still drivable.

That was much easier said than done, as the airforce base was an absolute wall of people. and weaving the huge monster of a car around tents and hippies was a tedious process. We moved at a snails pace through the base, me at the wheel while my friend directed people out of our way. The sun was beating down, and we were overheated and pissy.

The tip of the iceberg was weaving around a water station - my friend had managed to wrangle the crowd of people lined up to get water out of the path of Baby Blue, and now dozens of stoned brothers and sisters were watching me attempt to squeeze between the water station and various tents. I breathed a sigh of relief as i made it through, until i felt the front of the car rise up and heard a collective "awwwww" from the crowd - i had driven my front right tire directly over a cinder block.

After about an two hours, we made it to a gas station, fixed the flat and abandoned the car there for the rest of the weekend - there was no way we were gonna try to take it back through the base!
