PholkTales: Near Catastrophes
OK, so I convince my friend Jim that he needs to go to the New Year's show with me at Big Cypress. He agrees that NYE2000 is the ONLY place to be for the historic event.

So we caravan down there from Ohio with some other folks, waited like an hour to get into the show, set up, blah, blah, blah.

First day awesome, awesome, awesome. We're partying having a great time.

Second day, first song they play is Runaway Jim. My friend Jim must have heard a calling or some shit, but he just walks away. So we're just like cool, he went to the bathroom or some shit. We are all dancing, not really thinking much of it, and the set ends and I am thinking, WOW! Jim is still not back yet. I was just assuming he was butt ass tired and decided to take a power nap, he should definitely be at the camp site. So we wander back there, no sign of Jim.

At this point I am really not that worried, I figured he would turn up, maybe he found one of the groups we were with and was coming back with them. Ha ha, no such luck, everyone makes it back to the site throughout the day to regroup and what not, but no Jim.

So I am starting to get a little worried about this. My friends are not helping too much. They kept asking me what I was going to do if he did not turn up? DUH! find him, I was not about to just leave him there!

It gets to be about midnight, so we decided to head into the mayhem for the night. I am getting a little more worried, it has been about 8 hours at this point since we had seen Jim last.

Again my friends aren't helping me too much here, telling me to check the first aid tents and shit. I was like, right, I have no clue where the first aid tents are. Oh well, I decided that this is not going to stop me from having a kick ass time during this set. I'll worry about Jim when we get back to the camp site.

So it's morning, and now it sinks in that it has been 15-16 hours since we had seen Jim, and I am just loosing it. So we are heading back to the tent. I get to the tent and lo and behold, that punk is sleeping like a little baby! So I jump in the tent and start yelling at him. I was sure that he needed that right then and there!

Oh well, he was fine, but it made NYE2000 that much more entertaining, as I look back on it. I can never hear Runaway Jim without smiling and laughing.
