PholkTales: Miscellaneous
Hippie laughter, also true of some blondes. Did you ever notice how some people like to laugh after saying something... just to laugh.

Like my ex-hippie mother-in-law for instance, with the dyed blonde hair that gives her the fake eyebrows. She will always LAuGH after talking. One of those chuckles.

For instance "Oh, well dinner is almost ready... huh huh..."
or "hey isn't that the PHONE ringing.... ha ha... " and THEN WALK AWAY totally disinterested.  Sometimes it's even out of total silence. (imitate)

***Walks over , sits down... deadpan... and Laugh. Then look around to make sure there is nobody watching, find them watching... recognize and fake another laugh.***

Makes me wonder if they are flashbacks . Wonder what that is like... you know, to be sitting there, suddenly see Jerry Garcia floating  midair in front of you, melt, reform and turn into The Stay Puff Marshmallow Guy.  Then you realize... oh, that was just me. Ha ha.

Nice... that feeling of being there all over again burned in by brain-damaged neurons transmitting  memories while frying like that egg on the Say No to Drugs commercial....

Sometimes I get flashbacks from touring with Phish. 27 long, strange trips in 2000. They usually happen in the car at red lights.  I remember driving away from every show, OUT OF MY MIND, watching the traffic halt to a stop - some fan had to chase the Big Black Furry Creatures From Mars out of the road.  Or telling the driver behind me to get out of my head.
No, not from tailgating... he was actually talking to me.

Usually the cop from Terminator 2 appeared JUST LIKE FROM THE MOVIE, patrolling the line of two thousand drunk or stoned drivers.

The Grateful Dead were KIND to tripping hippies back then... you know?  I went to see them for New Year's in Oakland, and I don't have nightmare flashbacks about that show because they sing soothing stuff to you, like, "if you get confused listen to the music PLAY.."  Or "what a long strange TRIP it's been..."
to remind you that you're a raving lunatic on acid at the moment.

Phish, they like to tell it's all real.
I'd be seeing things melt and jump out of other people, crystallize, and then turn into a fractal of a million and one of the guy in front of me dancing...

They'd start telling me I was never gonna get out of this maze...(sing the song... and imitate...)  They tell you the voices in your head are real, coming from the water in the sky... they play songs entitled the landlady, while sucking on vacuum cleaners into a microphone, and they tell you things like they can smell the colors outside on their lawn.

Sounds like somebody needs to get out more often.
Maybe that's why people like me relate to them.

ALL THIS AT THE INTERSECTION OF Broad and Market, as the light goes to green.
