PholkTales: Miscellaneous
I decided to write this b/c i just read a few of the related stories on this site. The word "custy" pisses me off. I don't use it, personally. Don't get me wrong, i am not gonna say that everyone who uses the word uses it maliciously. But I am so f*ing sick of hearing heads mumble that word as people walk away from them after getting shit from them at an absurdly taxed rate.

I'm starting to get quite disillusioned with too high of a percentage of what I see and experience when I go to shows. Downright MEAN and SNOBBY treatment of "custies" by people that are a constant presence in the scene that is supposed to be full of beauty, kindness, TOLERANCE, and love. It's uncalled for. I, as much or more than anyone, see the scene as utopian. To be a part of it is a great thing, even a privilege. But it is going to the heads of too many people. Too many heads wanna turn this thing into a stratified society. Isn't harmonic coexistence another characteristic of the scene that makes it so great???(And don't give me that Frank Zappa quote about dissonance, that's a whole different ballpark)

Anyone who fits the mold of who I'm talking about is NO BETTER than snobby, materialistic prom queens. They are just as trendy as people who shop at Abercrombie and watch TRL, just part of a different trend. They are fitting the stereotype for the wrong reasons. They are not nearly as unique as they think, and deep down, they probably realize it and take out their insecurities on people they see as easy targets--> People who could be, and usually are, kind and beautiful people. They are anti-heads. But i still see them as brothers and sisters, and I love em all the same. Peace.
