PholkTales: Miscellaneous
One thing that always impresses me about reading everyone else's tour stories is the amount of congruency in all the tales. That is definitely why Phish is what they are' they make every person feel as though the musical universe surrounds them.

This is no different from myself as I attended only my third show ever at Coors Amphitheater in San Diego 9/18/99. It started out as one of those weekends where everything works out as it should. At the time, it actually scared my friends and I how cosmic things seemed.

A couple of my buddies had left for SD the day before me, and at that point, no one had cell phones to be reached at. I had no idea where they were in SD, but as soon as my buddy and I rolled into town we mysteriously ran into them at a sandwich shop. Anyways, that's how it started and it only got better from there.

On to the lot. By far the coolest parking lot scene ever witnessed. As soon as my foot touched the ground, I was offered some yummy treats that I was not about to turn down. Anything you could want or need was available, more so than I've ever been around.

Overall, the lot reeked of California. Lax security and everyone just getting along and partying. Finally, show time came, so our crew downed whatever party favors we had and headed in. A lot of us had to split up as some of us had pavilion and others lawn, so that kind of bummed us out.

However, the cosmic forces were in line that weekend and the pholks who had lawn ended up in the pavilion about two rows down from us, without even knowing. So there we were, all together and ready for a rocking show. Little did we know that it would be one of the best concerts we'd ever been to, probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite out of 15 shows.

Everything was in order. The boys were rocking hard and playing every song with a depth of emotion I had never heard coming from the stage. A full moon hanging directly over stage all night made the lights that much more intense and signaled to everyone in attendance that they were exactly where they should be. To describe the set and songs would take another two pages, but the reviews online are right on.

After the show, all any of us could say was 'rockin' or 'unbelieveable', no real words that describe the overwhelming feeling of bliss, tranquility, and togetherness.
