PholkTales: Miscellaneous
It was Ames, Iowa fall tour 99'. I was having an incredible tour, and I think that because I was kicking it with a special momma, my whole vibe was open for new, enlightened experiences.

I had been experiencing psychedelic, spiritual occurrences since my first dead shows in the late 90's and at many phish shows since 94', but my eyes opened up more so this tour. On this particular night I gained profound insight. Before the show we had dosed heavily on acid. I kind of liken it to taking a sacrament before a ritual.

Anyhoo...after a killer first set, the second set was where it was at. I had been tripping and dancing in my spiralistic, stomping-style. I need room when I'm blowin' up. During the second set Slave, as I spun around, I started to think of how DNA strands spin around themselves in their everlasting patterns.

Then I was kind of looking up at one of the hallway lights and it was then that I remember having read somewhere (Einstein?) that we are just that: living light. Then as I was caught up in the ethereally-enhanced beauty that is Slave I literally felt my molecular structure become light. I looked at my hands and I was able to see right through my them! I'm telling you people, right through 'em. I was still trippin' pretty good, but, I still had the presence of mind to record what exactly I was witnessing.

And that my brothers and sisters is what keeps me coming back. It's those experiences that I wish more people could come to understand of what reality really is. Absolutely anything possible. I thank Phish for providing the proper environment in which to have these kind of experiences.
