PholkTales: Miscellaneous
After going down to Big Cypress, I didn't think I had to go to any other shows. I thought that nothing else would top NYE '00. But it turns out I would be wrong. I was living in Connecticut at the time when I heard the boys were playing at Roseland. I looked at my schedule at work and noticed I had two days off after tix went on sale. Then I had to fight with myself if I should drive down to NYC and try to get tix or not. Well, that didn't last long, as I made it a quick decision.

I left Connecticut at 3 in the morning to wait in line. I was by myself and had no idea where I was going. My friends couldn't take the time off of work, but I decided that this was a great opportunity to see the band at this great venue. I got in line and waited with thousands of others who I'm sure felt like cattle as I did, as the cops started to herd us in barricades around 8 in the morning.

As I was being pushed and what felt like being prodded, i turned to my left and saw a friend of mine from home. As it turns out, he was there with my other friends from the Michigan crew. When I saw them, for whatever reason, i knew we were all getting in to Roseland. We waited for another hour or so before we got our wristbands. I had to head back to Connecticut and told them I'll see them tomorrow.

Well I drove back to the city and we made our way to the show. When we got there we saw that we had to wait in more line, ughhhhh!!!!!! We finally got into the show and it was time to groove. I was all smiles once the show started, that is until the size of the crowd and the heat took over.

I was starting to feel ill and talked to an EMT during the second set and told him I wasn't feeling well. He asked if I would like to come with him and I followed him through these doors in the basement of the place. I continued to follow when I noticed on the ground there was tape in the shape of arrows, you know what that means. We took a few more steps and he led me to a couple of chairs where the EMT's set up shop.

As I walked over to the chair, I heard the band and the sound was getting closer as he took me, BACKSTAGE!!!!!!!!! I sat there for about 45 minutes with him, just listening to the music as they took my vitals and asked me all sorts of questions. I really wasn't paying attention to him, because I was only about 20 feet behind Fishman.

What a view the band gets every night to see the most devoted phans in the world have a great time at their expense. Well the show was amazing, I had a great time and realized that was probably the only time I would be able to see the band that way.
