PholkTales: Miscellaneous
Why do I love this band? Two words. Big Cypress. Phish wanted to show everyone a good time, so they had these little special treats for those with their eyes open and aware.

There was a giant clock that spanned about 2 acres. Elaborate sand paths crossed the huge circle that surrounded this "clock". A guy in a suit followed around the path pulling the "hand" of the clock and offering vague and intriguing answers to those who questioned his actions. Those that asked too many questions were greated by "Men in Black" looking characters sporting a breifcase labeled "TIME".

As they spoke into their cufflinks and listened to their earpieces (like the Secret Service), they consulted with on-site "scientists" and doctors. Then, while darting off to the treeline to relieve myself, I discovered an entire "room" inside the forest. Hundreds of people gathered in the trees with trippy lights for a drum-a-thon on ethnic percussion instruments. Sharp cypress tree stumps sprouted up from the ground, nearly invisible in the darkness, yet no one tripped, fell, or impaled themselves (I was petrified of this the whole time).

I also remember a tree towards the back of the concert arena surrounded by huge blocks of ice so people could dance "friction-free". And no one got hurt. Whatever these guys are thinking when they plan this stuff, I'll never understand, but I'll always love it. I mean c'mon now...ICE BLOCKS TO DANCE ON??? A trippy room in the middle of the forest?? A giant clock before the millenium new year celebration, these guys are crazy. That's why I love them!!!!
