Music is a catalyst for psychedelic advancement.

That was the writing on a tombstone, the only tombstone in a very large field of routinely mowed grass. Somebody who cares deeply about that statement, and the person who once beheld it, mows the grass.

The thing is, with Phish, you shouldn't get so deep. Phish is about fun, and not taking life too seriously. Those deeply sentimental moments come as part of the surprise.

But when the surprises come, Phish is communicating with the audience telepathically; abstract imagery being sent, very subtly mixed with a boogie down routine. And the imagery is teaching us about respect and patience, while the music teaches us about havin' a grand ol' time.

Somebody shot the guy who mows that grass.

Why?

They didn't like the statement he was making.
