PholkTales: Encounters With the Band
Since I live in Montreal, Canada, its not always easy for me to see the band. For example, our drive to Big Cypress took 30 hours, non stop. So when I found out that Pork Tornado was coming to Mount Snow, Vt, a measly 5 hours away, I called up and reserved two tickets. My buddy Ben and I drove down during the day, and got to the venue well in advance.

The "venue" was an old, converted barn called, interestingly enough, "The Barn." We had nowhere to go, nowhere to stay, and nothing to do until the band came on. There could not have been more than 200 people there. It didn't take long before I noticed Fish walking around the bar.  It was cool because he looked just like all the other people there, and anybody who wasn't a phan would have looked over him without stopping.

Anyways, I sucked it up and walked over to him. I introduced myself to him and told him that we had come down from Montreal. He said that that was cool and that Pork Tornado appreciated fans who were willing to trek to see them. I was going to ask him if he wanted to come outside to party with me, but we were soon mobbed by this drunk group of kids who wanted to drink tequila shots with him. I shook his hand and he said "it was nice to meet you."

By the way, if you think Phish is a funny band to watch, Pork Tornado puts them to shame. They played a 10 minute version of "I Touch Myself," and an original whose chorus was "Kiss My Black Ass" over and over.
