PholkTales: Encounters With the Band
Phriends, Ok, this is going to be a short and sweet tale of my recent excursion on 2002 Trey Tour. My best bud and I, yes that’s a human being not a plant, left the Camden show seeking hibernation quarters. Since we could not decide whether to go into Philly and grab a hotel or just start heading to Merriweather, I jumped right on I-95 and said I’ll go as far as I can.

Welp, low and behold, we never stopped until we saw the sign for the Post Pavilion and then noticed it was like 2AM. Now, having never to gone to Maryland for any shows, we were clueless as to what and where to sack up. So, we decided to sleep in my Honda Accord after traveling around to three or four hotels, all booked up with no vacancies.

When I awoke in the morning around 9AM, I felt the urge, telepathically, fate driven, and whateva—to revert back to one of the hotels which looked pretty sweet, but was totally booked, the Columbia Hilton. I figured what the heck, it is worth one more attempt because my amigo and I desperately needed a chill down spot. Poof, vamoose, I pull in the parking lot to find the Trey Tour bus—very discreetly parked in the back of the lot. Yippy, I’m beginning to feel giddy.

Now, I knew they’d already told me there were no rooms, but to our avail, a vacant suite opened up. Kewl, sign me up. Now my friend was kinda beat so he says, “Dude, I’m going to knock out in order to be proper for the lot at the Pavilion.” I am Like, YO, DOG, that’s the Tour bus, chill with me here, I’ve got a feeling. He did not, I did. After two or so hours of wandering the hotel, the bus suddenly pulls around front and is just sitting there. Chills ensue, goose bumps ignite---first Jennifer Hartwick, then Andy Moroz, then the “MeatMan” —Tony Markellis.

I don’t think Trey stayed there that night, but Mr. Lawton comes off the bus to call Ray Pazkowski—who was running late and needed a wake up call while all the others are waiting on him. In retrospect, I had half of them sign my shirt, my Trey CD, and took a picture of Russ. It was awesome, I bid them farewell and asked Russ to please get me my Small Axe—and they did. God bless instincts, Trey Band, and you, my peeps!!!!!
