Last June my sister was married. It was your typical wedding, so the night before the actual ceremony we had the rehearsal dinner at a place called The Casino in Chicago. As you can imagine I wasn't quite sober, due to the free drinks and other things. Anyways everyone's seat at dinner was assigned, and I was paired with the minister and his wife, among others. After some small talk with the minister I must have mentioned something about Phish because all of a sudden he got really excited. He turns to his wife and says, "you want me to tell it or should I?"

So here it goes... the minister's wife was great family friends with a couple whose son had been in a horrible car wreck. This kid was in a coma and his whole family was devastated. While going through his belongings they came across a Phish ticket in his pocket or bag or something. One way or another word got out, and the next thing they knew Fishman was knocking on the hospital door. Everyone was so impressed that he would care that much about a fan.

So here's the kicker. Fishman went over the bed to say some words to the boy, and while he was mid-sentence, the boy came out of the coma. Think about that. You get in a horrible car wreck and the next thing you know you're in a hospital bed with Jon Fishman at your side.

This story was told to me much better than I am telling it now, but what the minister's wife (who was standing there when all of this happened) said was that Fish was magical. It wasn't something that you can put into words, but she said that there was just something about him... like he was emitting positive vibes.
