I noticed that he had a laminated pass on. At this point I did not realize who I was talking to. I asked Mike how he got a backstage pass, and he rambled off about fifteen ways one might get a backstage pass: friend of the band, family, book, a tour etc.  At the end of his list he said, "or you could play bass." 

At this point the big jack-ass light lit up behind my head. I was standing talking with Mike, and by the time my stoner ass realized it, he was gone. Since then I've had the chance to meet Mike a couple of times. I've never got the composure to confirm that it was him that night in St Louis, but i am pretty damn sure that it was.
