PholkTales: Encounters With the Band
It was the third night of the Widespread Panic Beacon Theatre shows, summer 2001. Hours before the show, me and my buddy meet Dave Schools (WSP bassist) on 46th St, right outside the theatre. Our day had already been made, or so we thought.

WSP wailed during the first set, so set break was time to re-gather our thoughts. We had met two more of our buddies in the show, so the four of us are just sittin' around, drinking some beers.

Out of nowhere, my one friend says, "hey, that guy over there looks like Gordon...that's funny." Well, I keep an eye on this guy for a few minutes as he walks around the theatre during the break. I don't know why I kept looking... I just did.

As he was walking around, he was getting closer and closer to where we were sitting. The closer this dude got, the more he started to look like Gordo. So I screamed "hey Gordon," and this guy's head flinched. Now I was convinced!

He starts walking down the aisle that the four of us are chillin in, and my eyes are fixed on his shadow. Sure enough, the figure approaches, and there stands before me the Funkmaster!

I shook his hand and told him what a pleasure it was! He smiled, shook his head, and walked on down the aisle. All my buddy could scream was, "I met Schools this afternoon, and now you...this rocks!"
