PholkTales: Encounters With the Band

-Thursday/Friday morning before the 9/29/00 show in Vegas. 4:30 am and several of us have just left Rum Jungle in Mandalay. Sauced.

-Rewind 3 hours- Red Bull (what awful shit that is!), Stoli, Patron shots, cuties. Surprising & pleasant conversation with Trey Parker.

-Fast forward 3 hours - Proceed to ATM. Get money. Find $25 dollar blackjack table. Josh's birthday. His brother is there. So are a couple of other marvelously fiendish new acquaintances.  I Drop $300 in minutes. Proclaim I should go home and get the only sleep I will find all weekend. Nobody notices.

-Fast forward 5 hours - Josh informs me about 30 seconds after I walked away, the finger tapping him on the shoulder belonged to Trey. "Mind if we join you?" he asked. (We being Kid Rock)

The rest is history.

-Rewind 5 hours - Hand after glorious hand. Lots of laughs. Kid Rock. Not much of a blackjack player. Needed to be advised when to hit, stick, double, etc. Trey was having fun. Both real nice guys. After a while, Kid suggested craps. Trey followed (I guess we know who wears the pants). So did some friends. Won big on black. Several c notes I hear.

One remained at the table and would remain 'til 8 or so. Josh. He didn't care about following them around, though. It was his birthday and he was winnnnnninG. Winning BIG.

-Fast forward 2 days - Sleeping on the plane, floating to the Windy City. Best flight ever. A dream. Trey begging me to double down. In front of me - 2 raisins that were now the earth.
