To touch on his first point, I agree that it totally sucks that some phans look down at people who aren't wearing patchwork pants and a tie-dyed shirt. For me at least, Phish is all about the music and the general warmth I get at a show, honest. Phish should be about coming to a show and being able put aside all the differences that normally separate each and every one of us in society. It shouldn't matter if one guy's jamming in an armani suit and one guys over there jamming in fubu. It's totally lame when people put a price tag on each other, that's not what it's all about.

To touch on this guy's second point, I don't find anything wrong with coming to a show without a ticket. To me it shows an awesome sense of dedication and love for the music. You hear tons of stories about phans getting their "miracle" and conversely, to me that also shows a sense of love and kindness of other phans to help one another out.

Lastly, I don't find anything wrong with phans smoking, tripping, doing whatever, at a show. And no, I personally have never done anything at a show, and don't really plan to. But if someone else wants to get messed up I think they're completely entitled to it. I think that in general most phans have at least some respect for "authority figures." But to be honest, I've seen some pretty fucked up stuff that cops have done when it's completely uncalled for.

No I'm not talking about a kid who gets arrested and tries to fight back. I'm talking about someone who's cooperating and is completely peaceful and is just physically tortured and insulted. So I sort of understand the general dislike of cops at a show, solely (to me) for the fact that they have a history of screwing around. Regardless, I think on an overall basis phans are pretty responsible with their drugs. I personally haven't ever witnessed any "disruptions" from someone who's tripping or high.

Anyway, I know I said I would keep this short, which hasn't really happened, but I thought it all needed to be said. All you kids out there, keep on jamming and please, please try not to judge all the other phans around you. It doesn't matter if they're black, white, rich, poor, young or old. It just matters that we all love the music, man!
