It was amazing. When I got through at 10:04, my heart started pounding. They asked me what I wanted tix for, I told them, they put me on hold. When they told me what my seats were, I was about ready to keel over. I went through the whole nine yards with the name, cc#, billing address, etc.

The last question was "What are the last three digits on your security strip on the back of the credit card?" My card was in my wallet, a half mile away. I took a stab in the dark, but the reply was "You have made an invalid entry." Then it said press 1 to complete this order. I pressed 1.... silence... nothing... I waited, then ten minutes later, the phone dies. I went into absolute bad shock.

That day was hard. The next morning I had the card, and I actually got through again and got two first night Hamptons, which eased the pain a little, but I still wouldn't forgive my incredible blunder.

A few months later, I return to my hometown after two weeks of traveling about to various shows of various sorts. I stopped at my parents house for dinner. Towards the end of the meal, my mother says, "So you'd be interested to know, that on Monday, I got a very unexpected phone call. It was about a transaction that was placed on the visa two months ago."

At this point, I thought I had gotten really drunk one night, and bought a round for a crowded bar on the visa or something. "Do you remember when you told me that all you wanted was to hear the crowd's roar when the lights go out at new year's?" she asks. I'm like "...uh...yeah!"

"Well, son, the person that called was with ticketmaster. He wanted to complete your order. You now have two tickets for new years eve."
